With this painting I wanted to capture a moment of pure, childlike imagination. Alicia's pose embodies the carefree spirit of a child at play, through her dress-up of layering multiple pairs of wings as if dressing up in a fantastical costume as she pleases. The composition emphasizes her complete immersion in her own world, oblivious to the toys and surroundings, highlighting the unfiltered expression of creativity.
The interplay of light is a key element for me, which I wanted to highlight through the vibrant pink hues that illuminate Alicia's tutu skirt. I wished the use of color would both add visual interest and also enhance the magical quality of the scene, further emphasizing the child's absorption in her imaginative play.
