Thought behind the painting

This painting represents the scene as it appeared during an early winter morning walk around Djurgården. The thick mist that engulfed Stockholm created a mysterious atmosphere, with the city's landmarks emerging gradually from the fog. My intention was to capture the actual landscape, emphasizing the shapes and structures as they stood against the muted, greenish tones of the morning light. The ship af Chapman, with its distinct silhouette, anchors the scene on Skeppsholmen, offering a glimpse of Stockholm's serene yet vivid reality in that moment. Unlike the final painting, this sketch focuses on the physical likeness rather than the emotional atmosphere.
